HortNZ, NZ Apples and Pears, NZ Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated und Summerfruit NZ haben sich an Landwirtschaftsminister Damien O'Connor mit der Forderung gewandt, die Situation nach den schweren Unwettern, die an Weihnachten in Nelson und Central Otago für große Schäden an der Produktion gesorgt haben (das Fruchthandel Magazin berichtete), zu einem Ausnahmezustand zu erklären, heißt es von Horticulture New Zealand.
Konkret gehe es um die Bitte um sofortige Hilfe mit Arbeitskräften, steuerliche Flexibilität und finanzielle Unterstützung zur Aufrechterhaltung des Betriebs - durch Ernteberater, finanzielle Beratung und Lohnunterstützung - bis zur Ernte 2022. Bis die Politik eine Entscheidung getroffen hat,
versorgen NZ Apple and Pears, NZ Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated und Zespri sowie Summerfruit NZ ihre Erzeuger bereits mit technischer Beratung und allgemeiner Unterstützung inklusive Workshops und finanzieller Unterstützung.
